Silk carpet designer and manufacturer, Avak Shirinian was born in Bunyan, a small town of Kayseri. His father originally from Zara, Sivas. On 1920, after the war he moved Bunyan. Avak was the fifth of six children. At the time Puzant 'Usta', a master weaver in Kayseri. Was a good friend of the father, who sent his eldest son fot apprenticeship. Haigaz became the most knowledgeable and famous master in Kayseri. Later, Awak learned everything from his brother since he had a very special interest in old and new rugs. He loved wondering all around Anatolia, widening the hoizons of his knowledge, travelling and gathering old carpets...
